
Assessing Academic Rigor (Evaluator III)
Audience
School administrators (superintendents, central office administration, building principals, assistant principals, etc.) and other educational leaders responsible for evaluating educators.
Description
Administrators will build their understanding of how to support teachers with increasing academic rigor in classrooms. They will learn how to use the Revised Bloom's Taxaonmy (RBT) in the coaching and evaluation process with teachers as they work to implement the Iowa Core, Authentic Intellectual Work (AIW), and other statewide initiatives as connected to the Iowa Teaching Standards and the Iowa Standards for School Leaders.

Intended Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of the ITS and the ISSL
- Understand how to support classroom level rigorous instruction and student learning
- Practice coaching skills
- Incorporate new knowledge and skills into the educator professional development plan
Evaluation
Participants will be evaluated from 1 - 5 on the following expectations:
- Demonstrate understanding on the revised Bloom's Taxonomy (RBT).
- Use revised Bloom's Taxonomy to determine level of rigor and alignment in learning experiences.
- Analyze units to determine level of rigor coach for rigor using appropriate stance.
- Plan for increased academic press use of the academic dashboard.

Prerequisites
Please ensure you have met all requirements for Evaluator II prior to taking this class. Each participant is to obtain his/her own copy of a Taxonomy for Learning, Teaching, and Assessing prior to the start of class.
