Professional Development for Iowa School Leaders

Lighthouse Partnerships:
A Learning and Support Program
for Board/Superintendent Teams

Audience

Interested board/superintendent teams commit to a two-year partnership with Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) and their Area Education Agency (AEA), with the option of continuing the partnership in future years.

Description

IASB's Lighthosue Research Studies are identifying important leadership and policy-level roles for the school board in improving student achievement. As a result of this work, IASB and several Iowa area education agencies are partnering with Iowa school board/superintendent teams to provide integrated school improvement supports targeted on increasing student achievement.

IASB staff help the board learn about the board's role in impacting student achievement and work to apply it based on the district's student learning needs. AEA staff members partner with the superintendent and school staff in moving the district forward around school improvement in a systemic way that meets the district's unique needs and that is integrated with the school board's focus.
